Five Easy Starter Plants

Welcome to the big wide world of plants! Choosing a plant for your very own can be daunting and if you don't know what you're looking for, it's even worse. Here are 5 easy starter plants to begin your indoor jungle.

Succulents These are the darlings of the plant world and so easy to grow, especially if you're prone to forgetting to water. Good choices include aloe vera or Chicks and Hens, both require bright, indirect sunlight and since they’re small plants are great for tiny apartments.

Snake Plant or Mother in Laws Tongue. With so many varieties to choose from, where do you start? An easy to grow plant that is both tolerant of low light and infrequent watering, this is a great choice for those of us who have a hard time remembering to water. It's also a great choice for a low light bedroom or bathroom

Spider Plant This starter plant is a prime choice for homes without a lot of direct light. It also does well with temperature variation and checks the box with a high tolerance for infrequent watering.

Philodendron The glossy, almost heart-shaped leaves are sure to put a smile on your face. Coming in both a climbing and non-climbing variation, this starter plant likes warm temperate conditions, bright but indirect light, and ample water.

Peperomia Plant Another good choice for the office with it’s high tolerance to low light. This plant likes to be potted with soil and gravel mix that allows for good air circulation around the roots.

Besides meeting your plants basic needs of light, soil, and water, one of the easiest things you can do to keep your plants happy, is talk to them! This concept has been around since 1848 and subject to numerous research projects. While none are able to conclusively tell us which method is best, it’s believed that plants respond to sound. So up your happy quotient and read something positive to your plant babies!
