Create Your Best Work From Home Setup
15/05/2020
Are you now stay-at-home-ing? Transitioning your workspace from the office/school to the home can be challenging. That’s not a cause for despair though! Setting up your home desk for success can be accomplished with a few easy steps.
- Choose your space – Your new “office” needs to be in some way, shape, or form - separate - from the rest of your home. Whether that means closing a door or simply closing your laptop and walking away fromyour desk. Creating that clear ritual to the beginning and ending of a workday helps to keep your work and home life apart even if you haven't gone anywhere.
- Time to customize! - Declutter your newfound space and start from scratch by building a new environment for you to be productive in. Once it's cleared off – add in the essentials like your laptop, a notebook, pens, etc so that you have everything you need to get your job done. Oh! and add back in some personal touches ‘cause doing work at home doesn’t mean you have to look at a sad wall all day. Fun photos, colorful desk accessories, a scented candle - all help in making the day go by with a little easier.
- Comfort is King – While sitting on the couch or your bed may seem like a good idea at the time, getting set up with a good chair and adjusting your laptop height can improve your life by leaps and bounds. Making sure your screen is at or near eye level can help to prevent neck strain and back fatigue – they're no joke! Pro Tip: a footstool can go a long way to help with posture and circulation (no more dead legs when you get up!)
A good setup can really help your outlook on the day and get you focused! Working from home isn’t nearly as scary as it may seem and you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish.
